Anna Mae Ragland, know to many as “Mama Ann”, passed away on November 24, 2011 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, MO. She was 78 years old.
A visitation will be on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Holt Memorial Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Holt Memorial Chapel. Rev. Johnny Arnold will officiate and J.D. Brewer will give a eulogy. Burial will be in Bellefonte Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Pounders, Dr. Chad Simpson, Mike Chaney, J.D. Brewer, Tom Young, and Mike Rosseau. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Roy Lee, Randy Paul, Davey Ryan, and Jim Chaney.
The daughter of Loyd C. and Mollie (Norvell) McDonald was born on January 5, 1933 at Bellefonte, AR.
Anna graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with degrees in English and Business. She taught for over thirty years at various schools, including, Mt. Judea, Omaha, and Western Grove, before her retirement. She and her sons were in the dairy business but retired several years ago.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Loyd Lee McDonald; and her faithful little dog, Poncho, of 17 years.
Survivors include one son and his wife, Chris and Marcy Ragland, of Harrison, AR; one daughter and her husband, Allane and Jim Gass, of Harrison, AR; one sister, Una Faye McDonald, of Bellefonte, AR; a granddaughter, Christy and husband, Mike Pounders , of Springdale, AR, who was her favorite granddaughter and provided her with much pleasure and happiness; two more granddaughters, Jennifer and Jessica Gass; three great grandchildren, Peyton, Morgan, and Brock Pounders; and two special friends, Sylvia Ragland and Elaine Simpson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital for treatment of Uveitis.
